Ampleforth College, located in the picturesque rural setting of North Yorkshire, is a successful Roman Catholic co-educational boarding school. The school takes Catholicism very seriously, fostering a strong Christian ethos that underpins the life of the school and seeks to provide students with a spiritual and moral compass for life. Ampleforth's academic results reflect its broad intake, as it is not highly selective. Under the leadership of new Head Robin Dyer, former longstanding Deputy at Wellington College, the school is finding its footing again after a few unsettled years.

Ampleforth College offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities and a genuine all-round education. The school has a strong focus on drama, featuring a purpose-built theatre and a new Performing Arts Centre. Christian Theology is emphasised throughout the school, with all students required to take a compulsory course in Christian Living, regardless of their chosen A-Level subjects.

To apply to Ampleforth, the school welcomes around 30 new students into the 6th form each academic year. Offers are made based on an interview and reference, with students expected to achieve at least 3 x Grade 5's and 2 x Grade 6's at GCSE.
