Established in 1514, Pocklington School is a co-educational independent school located in a safe, rural setting on the edge of a small market town, 12 miles east of York. The school caters to students aged 11 to 18, offering day and boarding options for both domestic and international pupils. With a strong tradition of encouraging students to take chances with learning and remain true to themselves, Pocklington School provides a wide and varied curriculum within a friendly environment.

Academic high-flyers excel at Pocklington School, but the institution also takes an individual and supportive approach towards each student's educational journey. Independent thought is highly valued, and students are encouraged to be resilient, resourceful learners. Lessons are designed to help students develop their independence and character, rather than simply acquiring and retaining facts. The school's values promote friendship, mutual respect, collaboration, and the importance of making a positive impact beyond the school gates.

The 50-acre campus boasts extensive facilities, including a £3m Art and Design Technology Centre, which opened in Autumn 2017. The centre encourages the pursuit of traditional arts and crafts, as well as providing cutting-edge equipment for digital and computer design, and manufacturing technology. Other facilities include a 300-seat theatre, an indoor sports hall, conditioning room, swimming pool, 21 acres of grass sports pitches, and two full-sized synthetic pitches.
