Wellington College in Berkshire is a prestigious independent school with a global reputation for its strong academic performances and commitment to holistic education. Situated on a vast and imposing campus in leafy Berkshire, the school offers a perfect blend of traditional British boarding school atmosphere and progressive learning environment. Its state-of-the-art facilities include a purpose-built Mandarin centre, modern steel and glass conversions, and interactive learning spaces.
Wellington College caters to academically driven students who are eager to immerse themselves in the wide range of opportunities the school has to offer. The majority of students board, although there is a significant day student population as well. The school is known for its high scores in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and offers a plethora of extra-curricular activities, including sports and a 9-hole golf course. A casual approach to academic achievement is not well received at Wellington College, as the school expects all students to be bright and aspirational.
Entry to the school is highly competitive, with standard entry points at ages 13+ and 16+. A limited number of spaces are also available at 14+. Approximately 85% of 13+ entrants come from UK prep schools, with registrations required to be made by 30 June in Year 5. From 2021, places will be offered based on a favourable transfer report from the applicant's current school, instead of a formal entrance exam. The entire admissions process is designed to identify students who will thrive in the school's unique environment.
